Converting to PDF
Office 2007
If you are using Office 2007 (you can tell by whether your documents save in ".docx" format), converting to PDF is easy. At the upper-left corner of the Word window, left-click the round Windows button. Click "save as", which should give you an option for "Adobe PDF". Follow the saving instructions and you're done.

Word 97-2003
If you save in ".doc" format, you can convert your document online via PDF Online or Doc2PDF.
Other
A majority of other major word processors can either export to PDF natively or can write in Microsoft Word formats, in which case you can use the links under "Word 97-2003" above.
